Known for
In the Posterior Analytics he held that demonstration must start from first principles that cannot themselves be demonstrated and are known by induction from perception. In the Nicomachean Ethics he listed the circumstances of an act (who, what, where, when, why, how) to judge whether it was voluntary, and in the Rhetoric he set out the three means of persuasion: the speaker's character, the audience's emotions, and the argument itself.
