The chaebol through transaction costs (with Choi). Analyzed Korean groups' diversification and structure as answers to market imperfections, describing a relational structure of vertical integration and conglomerate traits, and found group affiliates performed better. Caveat: The abstract does not say how the M-form claim was tested.
