In Thinking Tools
Known for
A Harvard Business School professor and co-author, with Edmund P. Learned, Kenneth R. Andrews, and William D. Guth, of Business Policy, whose text asks a firm to appraise its strengths and weaknesses against the opportunities and threats around it.
Caveat: Harvard's claim to have originated SWOT is contested: recent histories credit Stanford Research Institute's long-range planning group, and the 1965 book has no SWOT matrix.
