In Darwin's Dangerous Idea he argued that natural selection is a general algorithm that applies wherever there is variation, selection, and heredity, including in culture, where he extended Richard Dawkins's idea of the meme. In Intuition Pumps he presented Anatol Rapoport's rules for criticism: restate the other view so well that its holder would accept it, say where you agree and what you learned, and only then rebut.
