- A Comparative Analysis of Complex Organizations: On Power, Involvement, and Their Correlates, Free Press of Glencoe, New York, 1961
In Organizational Structures
Known for
The compliance typology of organizations and communitarianism.
Ideas
Normative organizations. Organizations in which normative power is the major source of control over most lower participants, whose orientation to the organization is high commitment, as against coercive organizations, which rest on coercion, and utilitarian ones, which rest on remuneration. Caveat: A typology for comparison; only passages of the book were read.
In this section, “read” means read by the Organizational Structures series: where a line says a work, or part of one, was not read, the series did not read it.
