Known for

A monetary economist at the Bank of England and later the London School of Economics. Goodhart's law, in his original wording, says that any observed statistical regularity will tend to collapse once pressure is placed upon it for control purposes; the common phrasing, that a measure that becomes a target ceases to be a good measure, is a later paraphrase associated with Keith Hoskin and Marilyn Strathern.
