Ideas
Core and periphery in employer strategies. Two 1987 British national surveys, of workers and of employers, showed the balance between core and periphery in the workforce changing, mainly through employers' traditional and opportunistic use of peripheral workers; employers with a conscious core and periphery strategy were a small minority. Caveat: One country, one year; the abstract does not say in which direction the balance moved.
