Power to the Edge and the edge organization, with David S. Alberts.

Ideas

The edge organization. With Alberts, argued that moving power to the edge means adopting an edge organization, with greatly enhanced peer-to-peer interaction and senior people moved into roles at the edge, which often reduces the need for middle managers whose role is to manage constraints and control measures. Caveat: A design argued from military experience and information-age theory; Nissen's simulation tests it, and its author calls the test preliminary.
