Distributed work as a field. With Kiesler, Hinds edited a multidisciplinary volume on distributed work groups and organizations, their problems, and how to make them work. Caveat: An edited volume of many authors.

What tempers conflict at a distance. With Mortensen, found that distributed teams in one multinational had more task and interpersonal conflict than collocated ones, and that shared identity, shared context, and especially spontaneous communication tempered it. Caveat: One company.
