Quantum against incremental M-form reorganization. In six firms, moving to the M-form improved financial performance, more after a quantum reorganization than an incremental one. Caveat: Six firms; Girod and Whittington (2016) found sweeping restructuring hurts in dynamic environments.
The M-form debate reviewed. Transaction cost, strategic management, and sociological perspectives on the M-form are evaluated against the evidence, between the claims that it is the century's key innovation and that it is a fossil. Caveat: A review.
