Known for
A Berkeley linguist who, with Mark Johnson, argued that everyday thought is structured by conceptual metaphors, such as argument is war, mapped from bodily and social experience. He later applied framing to politics, contrasting a strict father and a nurturant parent model of morality.
Caveat: His political framing work is contested; critics such as Steven Pinker argued its central claims lack support.
