Circular organizations as commons. With Meyer and Schneider, studied eighteen highly diverse circular organizations, whose templates, such as holacracy and sociocracy, give all members rights to take part in decisions, and found that Ostrom's design principles for commons may also explain such organizations' longevity, sorting the principles into indispensable, queasy, and quite unproblematic ones, with monitoring, graduated sanctions, conflict resolution, and balancing contributions with rewards as the queasy ones that implementation must mind. Caveat: Eighteen organizations, whose templates and data the abstract does not describe; no effect on longevity is tested, and only the abstract was read.
In this section, “read” means read by the Organizational Structures series: where a line says a work, or part of one, was not read, the series did not read it.
