Known for
A Scottish philosopher of ethics and of Greek philosophy. The Right and the Good holds that we have several prima facie duties (fidelity, reparation, gratitude, justice, beneficence, non-maleficence, and self-improvement), offered as a list he did not claim was complete, and that when they conflict, judgment in the particular case decides which one takes precedence.
