Known for
The transaction-cost study of divisionalization in large Yugoslav firms
Ideas
The divisionalized self-managed corporation. Sacks asked whether Yugoslavia's practice of self-management by small work units was costly in efficiency, treating the split of large firms into those units as divisionalization and analyzing it with Williamson's transaction cost approach, transfer prices, and investment decisions. Caveat: Only the book's description and chapters were read, not its conclusions.
In this section, “read” means read by the Organizational Structures series: where a line says a work, or part of one, was not read, the series did not read it.
