Evidence on German codetermination, with Simon Jäger.
Ideas
Labor in the boardroom. With Jäger and Heining, found no effect of one-third board-level codetermination on wages, the wage structure, or rent sharing, and if anything more capital formation. Caveat: A natural experiment across many German firms; it shows the effect of one-third board representation in new stock corporations with up to 500 employees, not of parity, of larger firms, or of works councils.
The German model. With Jäger and Noy, reviewed German codetermination: board representation has few direct effects, while works councils carry more of the model's cooperative dialogue. Caveat: A review that emphasizes the economics literature.
