Co-author with McChrystal of Team of Teams, which argues that a large organization facing a fast, networked adversary must become a network of small teams joined by shared awareness and empowered execution. Caveat: Practitioner lore, a book by the former task force commander and three co-authors; experiments with multiteam systems find that decentralization can cost more than it gains when teams are highly interdependent (Lanaj and others 2013).
