The theory of the labor-managed firm

Ideas

The Illyrian firm. In Ward's model of the firm in Illyria, a market firm whose directors are appointed, as in Yugoslavia, by the workers' council, the firm is run so that wages per worker, or what amounts to the same thing, profits per worker, are maximized. Caveat: A model, not a study; only passages of a 1977 reprint were read, not the 1958 article in the American Economic Review.

In this section, “read” means read by the Organizational Structures series: where a line says a work, or part of one, was not read, the series did not read it.
