Ideas
Parenting advantage. With Goold and Campbell, argued that parents more often destroy than add value to their businesses' stand-alone performance, and add value only where a real opportunity, suitable parenting skills, and feel for the business's success factors coincide. Caveat: Case studies of four firms chosen as successes.
Corporate-level strategy. Co-author with Goold and Campbell of Corporate-Level Strategy: Creating Value in the Multibusiness Company, which the corporate-center entry cites beside the 1994 article. Caveat: The book was not read; no claim rests on it alone.
In this section, “read” means read by the Organizational Structures series: where a line says a work, or part of one, was not read, the series did not read it.
