Known for
Author of a best-selling self-help book on personal effectiveness. In it he sorted tasks into four quadrants by urgency and importance and distinguished a Circle of Concern from a smaller Circle of Influence, where effort can change things. It is a popular synthesis, not research.
Caveat: The urgent and important distinction is older: it is usually traced to a remark attributed to Dwight D. Eisenhower, which is why the grid is also called the Eisenhower matrix.
