Developed by Tony Buzan (Use Your Head, 1974).
Places one topic at the center of a page and grows branches and sub-branches for related ideas, producing notes laid out the way the ideas connect.
When to reach for it
Starting to think through a topic, gathering ideas around it, or laying out the parts of a project before any structure exists.
How it runs
- Write the central topic in the middle of the page.
- Draw a branch for each main idea.
- Add sub-branches beneath each one.
- Use color, images, and line weight to mark what matters.
- Draw links between related branches.
